FLAGLER RUN
The new event is the senior project of Fah Lamaichampa, a senior at Chimacum High School. "The main purpose of this run is to raise some money for the Feed the Children organization," Lamaichampa told the Leader. "The secondary goal of this project is to raise awareness about fitness." Registering by the Sept. 4 early deadline guarantees a finisher a T-shirt; cost of registration is based on individual youth and adult, and family rates. It is a USATF-sanctioned event. "I had always thought that running was easy," said Lamaichampa, who emigrated from Thailand four years ago and became a naturalized U.S. citizen this summer. "But after my parents challenged me to finish a run, the start of my training began. It was much harder than I thought it would be, but before I know it, running has become my hobby." Lamaichampa thanks the businesses that have stepped up to support the effort with such things as water, oranges and other items. Note: A state Discover Pass is required to park a vehicle at Fort Flagler State Park.

FREE CONCERT
Joy In Mudville combines influences from old-time bluegrass, folk, rock, country, blues & funk with Jason Mogi on clawhammer banjo/acoustic & electric guitar/vocals, Kim Trenerry on acoustic guitar/vocals, Paul Stehr-Green on bass/vocals, and Mike Echternkamp on drums. Whether an original tune, a driving barn-burner, some funk rock or one of many Grateful Dead covers, their music is super-high-energy with tight harmonies, clever arrangements, and grooves that make you wanna bust out those dancin' shoes.
Beverages, popcorn and snacks will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the sale of beverages and food goes to support FoFF in its mission of supporting Fort Flagler State Park. A Discover Pass is required for entrance to the park.
